Smear Machine?

* unedited commentary from blog

I consider myself independent for the most part, but the tactics of the GOP for the past few years have just been disgusting.  I just cant figure why I ever thought I was conservative at any point in my life.  They contend and complain about smear machines while tagging every message they send out with a package of lies, distortion and fear.  They flood our airwaves with false information and spin that stomachs have to roll. The irony is sickening!

The negative advertising on our airwaves is repulsive and nauseating.  Wouldn't it be nice if people ran for office based upon issues rather than see who is the winner of a pissing contest

The current administration and Congress have a horrible disregard for public money and ethics and no regard for the American worker or personal liberties (except maybe their own financial well-being).  Their bumbling incompetence and gross negligence costs people lives, cost the US its position as moral authority, and chalked up $27,000 worth of debt for every single American.

They called the Medicare Part D a benefit for seniors and instead, it was really just a benefit for pharmaceutical companies.  I worked with this 'benefit' and there was little 'benefit' to seniors.  Some seniors now have to pay an additional premium and 100% of the cost they originally paid for the medicine they need.

They were more interested in vacations, rewarding CEOs, and spending money than helping Americans recover from a disaster in the Gulf.   Seems like wealth gives you more equality than others.

They have squandered our children's money and replaced it with IOUs that may never be paid.  May our children forgive them!

They say they don't want violence and crime while they caused thousands of people to die in Iraq and Afghanistan (and wonder why terrorists are gaining strength)

They ignore the Constitution and the Bill of Rights and expect us to be quiet while they hammer away at the melting pot and the foundation of American life.

They say they are in favor of liberty and justice when they strike down disagreement as dangerous, ungodly and unpatriotic.  That is exactly what the Nazis did.

They like to say thou shall not argue with Your President (you know.. endowed by the Creator) lest ye be a traitor to the cause.

They don't want government to interfere with people's lives while they are ready to hire religious compliance officers for every neighborhood.  Who are you sleeping with?

Maybe you think Big Brother was just a character in an Orwell novel,  and maybe people are starting to get used to the dizzy spells from the GOP, but we face a crossroads that will forever affect the fate and security of our future and Big Brother may be watching if you don't be careful.

Really, I think the only one willing to call things as they are is Jon Stewart.  Maybe I should run for office just to have someone actually have an interest in issues and the people have fair representation instead of this garbage.
